About The Position

You will be the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for the Common Flight Test Equipment (CFTE) team supporting the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM). Our team designs, prototypes, and validates the Telemetry and Flight Termination Systems that equip every PrSM increment, ensuring reliable data down link and safe missile termination from concept through flight testing. As the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer you will own the mechanical structural interface of these critical subsystems. You’ll coordinate Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, work hand in hand with the Packaging team on harness routing, and serve as the primary technical liaison for internal and external customers. You’ll guide multiple missile configuration variants from CAD review through prototype build, Design Verification Testing (DVT), and Qualification testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from accredited university with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
  • Proficient in PTC CREO and Windchill
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Candidate must possess a DoD Secret level clearance.
  • MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN

Responsibilities

  • Keeping the Integrated Master Schedule on track and reporting progress weekly.
  • Reviewing and refining PTC Creo CAD models and assemblies for fit, form, and function.
  • Validating dimension tolerance schemes and performing tolerance analyses to guarantee producible solutions.
  • Developing packaging concepts for both Telemetry and Flight Termination Systems across all missile configurations.
  • Documenting design and packaging evolution in digital design notebooks.
  • Capturing and sharing lessons learned between PrSM increments.
  • Visiting supplier sites when needed to troubleshoot production issues and align designs.
  • Partnering with Lockheed Martin Production Operations on “make” part requirements.
  • Maintaining a concise weekly status report for the team and leadership.
  • Assessing discrepant parts, creating rework or repair plans, and determining their reuse potential.
