About The Position

Pratt & Whitney Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) HPC Design group seeks a goal-oriented, detail-focused mechanical engineer to support the F135 HPC Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPT). The selected candidate will be required to take both support and leadership roles in complex and high priority tasks, as well as support mid-level and senior level engineers. This position is part of our Engineering Development Program (EDP), where participants complete rotations to build technical breadth and leadership abilities before graduating from the program.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering major obtained by start date.
  • Experience with Minitab, MatLab or other Statistical Analysis Software Tools.
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.
  • Advanced data management and processing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to accelerate and improve results.
  • Experience with hardware, drawings and manufacturing methods.
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in Unigraphics and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support investigations of military engine field incidents reported by the customer, driving root‑cause determination and corrective action implementation.
  • Develop serviceable limits for engine‑part wear for fielded engines through advanced data processing skills and multi-discipline collaboration.
  • Participate in hands-on, multi week engine tear downs at Tinker AFB.
  • Lead or support producibility‑improvement initiatives working directly with suppliers, including travel to provide on‑site support as required.
  • Support or lead engine HPC component redesigns or clean sheet new designs.
  • Perform engineering first‑piece reviews at vendor locations for new production and cold‑start parts.
  • Assist in creating safety‑risk analyses and developing risk‑mitigation plans.
  • Process Class I and Class II engineering changes.
  • Analyze and disposition quality non‑conformances (QNs) for fielded and new‑production parts, as well as supplier requests for information (SRIs).
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Present and communicate technical results to customers, leadership, and program management.
  • Develop innovative and technically sound design solutions while meeting program schedule milestones.
  • Improve the current state engineering efficiency by implementing advanced data mining, smart computer codes, and use of AI.
