About The Position

As a Mechanical Design Engineer I at Pratt & Whitney, you will provide resolution of mechanical engineering problems of difficult and complex scope, seeking a balanced system solution, ensuring engineering excellence, all with oversight. You will generate development hardware design solutions that meet the objectives of the test engines and facilitate the delivery of the development hardware to the test engines on schedule. You will also work with Operations to address production issues and evaluate hardware nonconformances to facilitate the timely delivery of production hardware. Additionally, you will process technically sound engineering changes within program schedule that meet performance metrics such as cost, weight, and part life, and work with our Customer Technical Support (CTS) team to respond to customer questions, review deteriorated hardware, and update engine maintenance manual limits. You will utilize standard work and CORE/ACE tools. Candidates hired will begin their first 2.5 years at Pratt & Whitney as part of the Engineering Development Program (EDP). This program consists of three rotations that are 12 months - 9 months - 9 months in duration and typically occur in three distinct disciplines within the hiring department. The intent of our EDP is to offer breadth & depth in various technical experiences through challenging positions available in our organizations. This program will help expand your professional and technical competencies that will serve as the foundation for exceptional contributions that you will make at Pratt & Whitney.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Systems Engineering obtained by start date.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: product design, drawing definition/ interpretation, material selection, thermal & structural analysis, manufacturing processes.
Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA
Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

Prior internship or co-op experience in the aerospace and defense industry
Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.
