Mechanical Design Engineer I (Onsite)
About The Position
As a Mechanical Design Engineer I at Pratt & Whitney, you will provide resolution of mechanical engineering problems of difficult and complex scope, seeking a balanced system solution, ensuring engineering excellence, all with oversight. You will generate development hardware design solutions that meet the objectives of the test engines and facilitate the delivery of the development hardware to the test engines on schedule. You will also work with Operations to address production issues and evaluate hardware nonconformances to facilitate the timely delivery of production hardware. Additionally, you will process technically sound engineering changes within program schedule that meet performance metrics such as cost, weight, and part life, and work with the Customer Technical Support (CTS) team to respond to customer questions, review deteriorated hardware, and update engine maintenance manual limits. You will utilize standard work and CORE/ACE tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Systems Engineering obtained by start date.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: product design, drawing definition/ interpretation, material selection, thermal & structural analysis, manufacturing processes.
- Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA
- Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects
Nice To Haves
- Prior internship or co-op experience in the aerospace and defense industry
- Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.
