About The Position

A Mechanical Critical Facility Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the complex mechanical systems in data centers, hospitals, and manufacturing plants. This role requires a strong background in HVAC and other mechanical equipment, along with mission-critical experience and relevant certifications. Technicians must be proficient in the operation, maintenance, and repair of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This includes chillers, boilers, CRAC/CRAH units, and air handling units. The ability to install, maintain, and repair minor plumbing systems, including pumps, valves, and piping, is required. Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is necessary for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment. Knowledge of BMS platforms like Niagara Tridium, Siemens, or Johnson Controls is crucial for monitoring and controlling environmental systems. Technicians must be able to read and interpret mechanical, plumbing, and electrical diagrams to perform maintenance and repairs. Proficiency with CMMS software is needed for tracking and documenting work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or greater
  • 6+ years' work experience
  • 3+ years of direct experience in a critical facility operation, such as a data center or hospital
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Experience with chillers greater than 300 tons, boilers, or significant other mechanical experiences
  • Must obtain an ACR Technician TDLR within the first year of employment
  • Possess an EPA 608 Certification
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance
  • Ability to work at various heights up to 60 feet and climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders
  • Ability to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English
  • Ability to use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools
  • Ability to recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions
  • Ability to see details at close range
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
