The Automation Conveyor Mechanical Engineering Group Manager leads a team responsible for the design, build, installation and launch of state-of-the-art conveyance systems in GM’s North America Vehicle Assembly Plants. You will oversee the suppliers and contractors who install and productionize Body Shop and General Assembly equipment and tooling, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective execution. You will be part of a broader team of manufacturing engineers and technical specialists who define how our vehicles are built. In this role, you will have full people-leadership responsibility for your GM team, including goal setting, coaching and mentoring, performance management, career development, and driving an inclusive, safe, and engaging workplace. You will also lead all hiring initiatives for your team. This role requires a high level of technical depth, creativity, and independent judgment. You will drive standardized work, process improvements, and system reliability to increase the productivity of the team members who operate and maintain the equipment you procure and install. Your organization will also develop and execute long-term sustainment plans for the equipment in the plants you support. This position requires significant business travel to remote plants. Because key activities occur during plant downtimes, you must be willing and able to work during holidays, weekends, and plant shutdown periods as needed.
