About The Position

Skillforce has teamed up with a leading mechanical contractor to find a skilled Mechanical Construction Project Manager to work on their commercial and industrial projects. This is a full-time, direct hire position based out of Charleston, SC with occasional local travel.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
7+ years of commercial mechanical construction experience
5+ years managing projects
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal systems.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and schedules.
Strong financial, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
Valid driver's license.

Mechanical contracting experience preferred
Design-Build experience preferred
BIM/VDC experience preferred
OSHA 30 experience preferred
Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage project startup, contracts, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to identify scope gaps, conflicts, and constructability issues.
Oversee procurement, project buyout, vendor relationships, purchase orders, and long-lead materials.
Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, billing, invoicing, and change orders.
Monitor project schedules, manpower needs, milestones, and recovery plans.
Conduct jobsite visits and ensure work meets project specifications, codes, and quality standards.
Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, GCs, architects, engineers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
Participate in BIM/VDC coordination and support field installation planning.
Partner with the Superintendent to resolve issues and maintain field productivity.
Oversee commissioning, punch lists, O&M manuals, warranties, as-builts, and final closeout.
Mentor junior project staff and promote a professional, accountable team environment.
