About The Position

Skillforce has teamed up with a leading mechanical contractor to find a skilled Mechanical Construction Project Manager to work on their commercial and industrial projects. This is a full-time, direct hire position based out of Charleston, SC with occasional local travel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 7+ years of commercial mechanical construction experience
  • 5+ years managing projects
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and schedules.
  • Strong financial, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Mechanical contracting experience preferred
  • Design-Build experience preferred
  • BIM/VDC experience preferred
  • OSHA 30 experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project startup, contracts, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to identify scope gaps, conflicts, and constructability issues.
  • Oversee procurement, project buyout, vendor relationships, purchase orders, and long-lead materials.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, billing, invoicing, and change orders.
  • Monitor project schedules, manpower needs, milestones, and recovery plans.
  • Conduct jobsite visits and ensure work meets project specifications, codes, and quality standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, GCs, architects, engineers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in BIM/VDC coordination and support field installation planning.
  • Partner with the Superintendent to resolve issues and maintain field productivity.
  • Oversee commissioning, punch lists, O&M manuals, warranties, as-builts, and final closeout.
  • Mentor junior project staff and promote a professional, accountable team environment.
