About The Position

American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) develops and commercializes domestic, sustainable sources of critical battery materials through lithium-ion battery recycling and battery metal extraction technologies. Its commercial-scale battery materials support the battery manufacturing supply chain. ABTC is seeking a skilled, creative, hands-on Mechanical Construction & Fabrication Technician for its Construction Self-Perform Team. The technician supports industrial construction, mechanical installations, piping systems, sheet metal fabrication, structural modifications, and equipment improvements across ABTC facilities. The role is suited to a builder and problem-solver who can fabricate solutions using materials such as PVC, carbon steel, stainless steel, and sheet metal, and turn technical drawings and field requirements into functional installations. The technician must be flexible and willing to assist electrical and general construction teams as needed and within their qualifications.

Requirements

3–5 years of hands-on experience in industrial mechanical construction, fabrication, pipefitting, welding, or related trades.
Ability to read P&IDs, PFDs, mechanical drawings, and equipment layouts.
Experience with industrial piping installation and mechanical assembly.
Hands-on experience with plastic, carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, and aluminum piping, and other fabrication materials.
Ability to measure, cut, fit, assemble, and install mechanical, piping, and structural components.
Familiarity with fabrication techniques, mechanical tools, and construction equipment.
Basic understanding of welding, metal fabrication, and sheet metal work.
Strong mechanical aptitude, creativity, and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work from drawings, sketches, verbal instructions, and field measurements.
Willingness to perform physical construction work and support multiple disciplines.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in industrial environments.
Understanding of jobsite safety, proper tool use, and LOTO procedures.
Willingness to work flexible schedules.

Nice To Haves

MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding experience and welding qualifications or certifications.
Carbon steel and stainless steel piping fabrication experience.
Industrial PVC/CPVC chemical process piping experience.
Sheet metal bending, forming, and fabrication experience.
Ability to interpret piping isometrics, fabrication drawings, and structural details.
Experience with pumps, tanks, filtration systems, conveyors, and chemical process equipment.
Prefabrication and modular assembly experience.
Familiarity with applicable ASME piping codes and welding/fabrication standards.
Experience in mining, chemical processing, battery recycling, manufacturing, or industrial facilities.
Basic electrical or instrumentation installation knowledge.

Responsibilities

Support industrial construction and mechanical installations across ABTC facilities.
Install piping systems and assemble mechanical components.
Fabricate sheet metal and make structural modifications and equipment improvements.
Use technical drawings and field requirements to create functional installations.
Measure, cut, fit, assemble, and install mechanical, piping, and structural components.
Assist electrical and general construction teams as needed and within the technician’s qualifications.
