About The Position

C2O Americas is seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Technician to support project commissioning activities in Reno, Nevada. The role involves hands-on work with static and rotating mechanical equipment, piping systems, flange management, joint integrity, and mechanical commissioning procedures. The technician performs mechanical testing, inspections, equipment alignment, and commissioning activities in accordance with approved project procedures, while maintaining a strong focus on safety. The technician supports pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, equipment preservation, system walkdowns, deficiency resolution, documentation, and turnover. The role coordinates with construction, commissioning, engineering, operations, contractors, and the Completions team, and requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.

Requirements

At least 5 years of hands-on mechanical commissioning experience in industrial, oil and gas, or similar facilities.
Strong knowledge of static and rotating equipment, including pumps, motors, vessels, valves, and piping systems.
Demonstrated experience with flange management, joint integrity, and bolting/torquing procedures.
Experience with mechanical alignment tools, vibration testing, and mechanical inspection equipment.
Working knowledge of LOTO procedures and industrial safety requirements.
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and commissioning procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for maintaining joint registers and commissioning documentation.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.

Nice To Haves

Previous commissioning experience in upstream oil and gas or large-scale industrial facilities.
Millwright or mechanical maintenance background.
Experience with equipment preservation, mechanical completion, and system turnover.
Relevant mechanical or technical certifications.

Responsibilities

Perform pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities on mechanical equipment and piping systems.
Conduct pump and motor alignment using appropriate alignment equipment.
Support uncoupled motor runs and coupled pump runs, including vibration analysis.
Perform vibration, temperature, RPM, and rotational checks.
Inspect installed pumps, motors, vessels, valves, and piping systems.
Perform millwright and piping activities related to mechanical commissioning.
Execute equipment preservation requirements and support startup operations.
Coordinate with construction and bolting/torquing contractors to identify flanges requiring disassembly, gasket or bolt replacement, or re-torquing.
Maintain flange tagging records, joint registers, and associated documentation.
Verify bolting and torquing activities comply with approved flange management procedures.
Confirm mechanical testing and torquing equipment have current calibration certifications.
Review and verify joint integrity documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Participate in mechanical system walkdowns and inspections.
Identify deficiencies and support punch-list resolution.
Execute approved commissioning procedures and maintain accurate testing records.
Complete system acceptance documentation and coordinate turnover with the Completions team.
Coordinate with construction, commissioning, engineering, and operations personnel.
Follow applicable site safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site inspections.
Maintain compliance with project HSE requirements and industry best practices.
