About The Position

This position is responsible for safely assembling, testing, inspecting, and packaging products while following standard work instructions and quality requirements. The role supports production, safety, and customer goals through accurate workmanship, teamwork, and adherence to company processes. We’re looking for a motivated, hands-on team player with strong mechanical aptitude who can follow standard work, read drawings, and perform assembly and testing safely and accurately. The ideal candidate values quality, communicates issues proactively, and contributes positively to a collaborative, safety-focused work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet, etc.)
  • Written and verbal communication, math, reading, and spelling skills.
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling and bending.
  • Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.
  • Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed.
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and understand standard work, training guides, and acceptance criteria to meet customer and QMS requirements.
  • Operate and perform safe operations inspections on cranes.
  • Locate and print applicable drawings.
  • Read and understand drawings to assemble product.
  • Torque and mark joints to appropriate value.
  • Perform moderate to semi-complex assembly/testing functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, assembly fixtures, and inspection measurement equipment.
  • Operate and perform leak tests and assist in locating leaks in the plumbing.
  • Assist in pressure testing pipe to requirements.
  • Report inconsistencies and/or defects in material, product, or equipment.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management.
  • Help company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
  • Inspect and operate manlifts.
  • Cut, bend, and assemble stainless lines.
  • Operate and download/verify leak testing equipment.
  • Operate pressure testing units independently.
  • Operate saw processes independently (where applicable).
  • Coach and lead others.
  • Problem-solving skills and help with daily issues that arise.
  • Perform all sub-assembly and assembly standards.
  • Obtain forklift certification.
  • Understand and perform all in-process inspections and able to record such inspections.
  • Conduct audits and perform system checks as assigned.
  • Understand upstream and downstream processes.
  • Complete and verify all customer required documentation.
  • Perform work in compliance with EHS training and identified procedures/standard work.
  • Report any EHS incident or concern to your supervisor immediately.
  • Cooperate and contribute to the overall success of the EHS program.
  • Participate in job-specific training.
  • Complete work as indicated by standard work, processes, and/or procedures.
  • Notify supervisor immediately for guidance if work cannot be completed as required.
  • Demonstrate and support the Steffes Code of Conduct.
