About The Position

TPS is a leader in thermal processing products and test solutions. We design and manufactures industrial and laboratory ovens and furnaces, and environmental temperature cycling and stability test chambers. Our product brands include Blue M, Gruenberg, Tenney and Lunaire. This is a great internship opportunity. We are currently hiring and seeking talented individuals to join our growing team!

Requirements

  • Six to twelve months experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to capture data and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to accurately measure with a tape measure and square to 1/32".
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic computer skills are needed to retrieve computerized CAD drawings and other job information and enter and retrieve information in internal systems.
  • Must be able to perform basic blueprint reading.
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools such as hand drills, wrenches, sockets screwdrivers.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and willing work overtime on an as-needed basis to maintain production deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Willingness to obtain a forklift license desirable.
  • TIG/MIG welding experience, or willingness to learn, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to read schematics and prints to assemble custom pieces of equipment with a high degree of complexity.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude required with the ability to work on new custom and complex equipment builds that we’ve never done before.
  • Able to operate basic hand and power tools.
  • Able to mount components such as doors, motors, heaters, blowers, fans, and coils to weldment according to blueprints.
  • Positions parts in specified relationship to each other and bolts, screws, or otherwise fastens parts together.
  • Drills and taps mounting holes.
  • Works as member of assembly group assembling various parts to order.
  • Works at different work stations as production needs require or shifts from one station to another.
  • Able to work with insulation material to insulate cabinets.
  • Installs liners, motors, heaters, and other options.
  • Maintains logs, records, and reports concerning production and product inconsistencies.
  • Signs off on sign-off sheet as steps are completed and inspects unit prior to release to test.
  • Strong eye for quality and pride in creating custom pieces of equipment that will work well for our customers.
