Position Summary The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for installing electrical components, wiring, and mechanical systems within substation building enclosures. This role supports manufacturing operations by interpreting engineering documentation, performing assembly and installation activities, operating hand and power tools, and ensuring all work meets quality, safety, and production standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing, production, construction, or industrial environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, and written work instructions.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment maintenance, and workplace safety practices.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to perform accurate measurements and work to engineering and quality specifications.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools, including tape measures, drills, impact drivers, and grinders.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety, and productivity standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience installing electrical components, conduit, wiring, panelboards, HVAC equipment, battery systems, or related mechanical assemblies preferred but not required.
  • Experience operating powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, reach trucks, scissor lifts, and overhead cranes, preferred; training and certification may be provided.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are preferred but not required.
  • Experience in electrical assembly, mechanical assembly, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with panelboard installation, conduit routing, electrical devices, HVAC systems, and battery systems.
  • Experience supporting quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment while meeting production schedules and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, procedures, and work instructions to complete assembly activities.
  • Assemble and install electrical and mechanical components, including panelboards, HVAC units, battery systems, electrical devices, and conduit.
  • Route, secure, and support wiring and electrical components in accordance with engineering specifications and production requirements.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools, including drills, impact drivers, screwdrivers, grinders, and other assembly equipment.
  • Conduct quality inspections to verify completed assemblies meet engineering specifications, workmanship standards, and quality requirements.
  • Identify, document, and report defective materials, product nonconformances, and equipment issues.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of tools, parts, and production supplies within the workstation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
