About The Position

Assemble mechanical devices and equipment. This role involves reading work orders and production drawings, positioning and aligning parts, and performing various joining operations such as crimping, staking, screwing, bolting, riveting, welding, cementing, and press fitting. The assembler will also install finished assemblies, perform intermediate assembly tasks, operate machines for cutting and drilling, and assist in problem-solving for component installation. Additionally, this position may involve devising and fabricating new or modified components, mentoring other assemblers, and potentially working at various Atec facilities. Adherence to Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies is required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED, or three (3) years of experience and/or training, or five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment and/or training; or combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings for manufacturing.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Good eyesight; by lenses if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand work orders, production drawings, and sample assemblies.
  • Position and align parts in specified relationships.
  • Crimp, stake, screw, bolt, rivet, weld, cement, press fit, or perform similar operations to join or secure parts.
  • Install finished assemblies or subassemblies.
  • Perform intermediate assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color-coding.
  • Operate machines that press, mark, cut, and drill component parts.
  • Adjust or trim material from parts to achieve specified dimensional characteristics.
  • Assist in problem solving regarding component installation and/or discrepant materials.
  • Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.
  • Mentor other Mechanical Assemblers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations.
