About The Position

Assemble mechanical devices and equipment. This role involves reading work orders and drawings, positioning and joining parts using various methods, installing assemblies, and performing intermediate assembly tasks. The position also requires operating machinery, adjusting parts, assisting with problem-solving, and potentially devising new components. Mentoring other assemblers and temporary assignments to different Atec facilities may be required. Adherence to Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies is mandatory.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED, or three (3) years of experience and/or training, or five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment and/or training; or combination of education and experience.
  • Positive Performance Review (applies to internal personnel changes for current Atec, Inc. & subsidiary location employees).
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings for manufacturing.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand work orders, follow production drawing, and sample assemblies, or receive verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Position and align parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device.
  • Crimp, stake, screw, bolt, rivet, weld, cement, press fit, or perform similar operations to join or secure parts in place.
  • Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
  • Assemble and attach hardware, such as caps, clamps, knobs, and switches to assemblies.
  • Perform intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color-coding parts and assemblies.
  • Operate machines that press, mark, cut, and drill component parts.
  • Adjust or trim material from parts to achieve specified dimensional characteristics.
  • Assist in problem solving regarding component installation and/or discrepant materials.
  • Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products.
  • Mentor other Mechanical Assemblers on tasks they have been assigned.
  • Temporary assignment to various Atec facilities may be required as needed to support Atec operations.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
  • Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives.
  • Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Participate in Atec Improvement Machine (AIM) as appropriate.
  • Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required.
  • Cooperate with Auditors.
  • Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
