About The Position

GDI Ainsworth is currently looking for Project Apprentice SteamFitter-Plumber (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th Year) to join our growing project team. This role is ideal for an individual looking to advance their career in a professional, safety-focused, and supportive environment. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced journeypersons and project team members on commercial, industrial and institutional projects.

Requirements

  • Registered 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th Year Apprentice 306A or 307A (required)
  • Member in good standing with UA Local 46
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent work ethic with a strong commitment to safety
  • Understanding of Mechanical Installation and repairs.
  • Valid Ontario Drivers License with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent Math and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to maintain RCMP, Public Works Reliable clearance status
  • Must be able to lift heavy materials, tools and equipment when required.
  • Up to date knowledge of local plumbing codes
  • Strong Verbal Communication, Stress- and Time-Management Skills

Nice To Haves

  • Gas Technician License (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Installation of Mechanical related equipment and components.
  • Perform piping installations, repairs, and system modifications in accordance with drawings and specifications
  • Support commissioning and start-up activities
  • Work on complex Mechanical projects throughout the GTA and surrounding areas
  • Maintain accurate work documentation and reports
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, teammates, contractors, consultants, and clients
  • Represent the company professionally on all job sites
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety, Environmental company policies, Government legislation/regulations and union requirements.
  • Contribute to the ongoing training and mentoring of indentured apprentices.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.
  • Read blueprints, specifications, determine layouts and material take offs for mechanical systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
