About The Position

Diagnoses and repairs a variety of diesel-powered commercial light and heavy equipment using manuals, attained specialized knowledge and other sources. This role involves performing maintenance and service work, assessing and diagnosing engines (small, diesel, heavy equipment, and tractor), understanding warranty processes, and documenting repair actions. The technician will also perform safety and operational checks, disassemble and assemble units, and communicate with service writers regarding repair status and parts needed. Other duties may include pulling stock using a forklift or pallet jacks and completing required paperwork.

Requirements

High School or equivalent.
3-5 years auto/truck, heavy equipment mechanical experience.
Mechanical ability, diagnostics skills, Diesel Mechanics.
Certification in Auto/ Diesel mechanics. ASE or other certification.

Nice To Haves

Voc. Ed. Program or training preferred.
2 stroke and 4 stroke engine experience.
Able to read and understand service manuals and schematics.
Communicate with service advisors on repair process.
Advanced tool selection.
Can bus and hydraulic experience.
Ability to utilize diagnostic software.
Communicate complex repair processes.

Responsibilities

Diagnoses and repairs units requiring routine maintenance and special repair according to the work order or other approved repairs.
Disassembles and assembles units under repair using a variety of hand and power tools according to accepted procedures.
Communicates with service writer regarding status of units under repair according to the work order or other approved repairs.
Performs Safety and Operational checks on repaired units.
Repairs items out of tolerance.
May pull own stock as required using forklift or pallet jacks.
Communicates with service writers regarding status of units being assembled and/or repaired.
Requisitions parts required for repairs and communicates to service writer as needed.
Completes all required paperwork and time recording.
Other duties as assigned.
