About The Position
Waste Connections of Iowa is seeking a reliable Preventative Maintenance Mechanic to join their team in Des Moines, IA. This role is crucial for ensuring the fleet remains safe, road-ready, and in optimal running condition. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work and prioritize safety.
Requirements
- Experience working on diesel vehicles.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools.
- Experience in performing preventative maintenance.
- Possession of a basic personal tool set.
Nice To Haves
- Hydraulic experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel trucks and equipment.
- Perform work on electrical, hydraulic, brake, suspension, and air systems.
- Utilize diagnostic software and tools to identify and resolve issues.
- Respond to road calls and perform emergency repairs.
- Complete repairs based on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).
- Test drive trucks after repairs are completed.
- Assist other mechanics as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe shop environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Communicate professionally with drivers and team members.
