About The Position

Nestlé Canada Confectionery is seeking a Mechanic to join the Maintenance team at our chocolate manufacturing plant in Toronto, Ontario. This is a full-time position and may involve shift rotation, overtime, and weekend work depending on business needs.

Requirements

  • Valid Ontario Industrial Millwright License (433A) is required.
  • Experience with Key Standard Routines and predictive maintenance tools and systems is required.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow company policies and procedures is required.
  • Knowledge and/or working experience with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), especially Preventive Maintenance Pillar methodology, is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver results through collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the food or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of factory systems and SAP, are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out assigned maintenance work promptly, safely, and with minimal supervision.
  • Support the needs of a 24/7 manufacturing operation and respond to changing priorities on short notice.
  • Use SAP for Asset Maintenance Management to manage, complete, and close work orders accurately.
  • Repair defective machine parts and components using mechanical, welding, and brazing tools.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position parts during installation and maintenance activities.
  • Align equipment using specialized tools, including micrometers and plumb bobs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance procedures and accurately document findings.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematic drawings, and technical machinery manuals to determine work procedures.
  • Inspect, examine, diagnose, and lubricate machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and support reliable operation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engineers to resolve equipment issues.
  • Operate basic machine tools, such as lathes and grinders, as needed to modify parts for machinery maintenance or setup.
  • Practice safe working methods in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable regulations, and internal management policies.
  • Follow all GMP rules, quality checks, ISO 14001 environmental requirements, OHSAS 18001 safety requirements, and Nestlé Quality Management System requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
