About The Position

Cornell Balancing, part of CT/HX, specializes in HVAC testing, adjusting and balancing, mechanical service, and mission-critical support for commercial and industrial facilities. Our team works on complex HVAC and rotating equipment systems to help customers maintain reliable, efficient building operations. We are seeking a hands-on Mechanic to join our growing team in South Florida. This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys working in the field, solving problems, and working on motors, bearings, shafts, and cooling tower equipment. The Mechanic will work primarily in the field at commercial and industrial job sites throughout the Fort Lauderdale and Fort Myers areas. This individual will handle mechanical assembly, motor wiring, shaft and bearing work, and general rotating equipment repairs and maintenance. The ideal candidate has experience in mechanical trades, HVAC, automotive, diesel, or industrial maintenance environments. This is a field-based position, and employees typically report directly to the job site.

Requirements

  • Mechanical background required
  • Ability to read and use basic mechanical diagrams and wiring information
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cooling towers, chillers, motors, or rotating equipment strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with motor wiring, couplers, bearings, and machinery maintenance
  • Backgrounds in HVAC, automotive, diesel, industrial maintenance, or other skilled trades are welcomed
  • OSHA 10 certification is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform shaft and bearing assembly and replacement
  • Wire motors and troubleshoot basic motor connections
  • Work on cooling towers, rotating equipment, and related mechanical systems
  • Install, align, and replace couplers, bearings, motors, and machinery components
  • Assist with chiller and HVAC mechanical service work
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs in the field
  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers
  • Travel to job sites as needed throughout South Florida
