About The Position

Prysmian Group is seeking new talent at our manufacturing plant in Taunton, MA! This role is responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, making required repairs, and installing and dismantling equipment. The Mechanic will also perform general mechanics, pneumatics, and power transmission equipment repairs related to wire and cable equipment, and operate machine shop equipment. Additionally, the role involves performing preventive maintenance, 5S activities, participating in continuous improvement events, and ensuring work areas are safe and orderly. The Mechanic must ensure all products meet quality requirements and comply with safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines. Overtime and different schedules may be required on short notice. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English
  • Must have all necessary mechanics’ tools.
  • Some manufacturing experience preferred or demonstrated mechanical ability in an manufacturing environment preferred
  • Must complete OJT for specific job classification, as required, in a timely manner
  • Must excel in quality workmanship and sustain a professional demeanor.
  • Must be able to work independently according to verbal and written instructions
  • Must learn basic computer transactions and inputs; must have ability to become certified SAP User
  • Must have basic math and communication skills.
  • Must develop and maintain proficiency in required job skills
  • Must be capable of lifting or moving 50 lbs. and occasionally lifting or moving 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to distinguish different colors

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and making required repairs.
  • Installing and dismantling all equipment.
  • Performing welding, pipe fitting, and other work as required.
  • Performing general mechanics, pneumatics and power transmission equipment repairs as it relates to wire and cable equipment.
  • Operating lathes, milling machines, drill presses and other machine shop equipment without direction.
  • Performing preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Conducting 5S activities.
  • Participating in continuous improvement events.
  • Maintaining work area in a safe and orderly condition at all times.
  • Ensuring all products meet requirements as defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems.
  • Complying with all applicable safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines.
  • Working overtime or different schedules when required and on short notice.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management.
