About The Position

This position requires a skilled Mechanic with proven work experience in Diesel or Heavy Equipment. The role involves performing scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections on all company equipment, including rented and leased machinery. The mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing and fixing issues related to hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, as well as diesel engines. This role also includes maintaining detailed work records, assisting with parts and equipment logistics, and potentially traveling to customer job sites. A strong understanding of OSHA requirements and basic safety practices is essential. The position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and may expose the individual to construction-related hazards.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Diesel or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
  • Knowledge in and ability to perform DOT Inspections
  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment maintenance including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, emissions, diesel, gasoline, and record-keeping systems.
  • Must have own assortment of tools.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Ability to achieve project goals and timelines.
  • Proven analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, equipment, and inventory management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and a supportive team member.
  • Candidates must be able to work in all weather conditions, as safety permits.
  • Understanding of basic safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled maintenance on all company equipment, including rented and leased equipment as needed.
  • Maintain and repair heavy equipment, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical machinery and systems.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, transfer plates, final drive and trac motors.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace pneumatic equipment such as diverters, air compressors, lubricators, hoses, power packs, & huck guns.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps.
  • Read, understand, and apply information from technical manuals, prints, and schematics.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on all company equipment including both rented and leased as needed.
  • Assist in the training of lower-level technicians as needed.
  • Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis.
  • Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
  • Be knowledgeable of OSHA requirements.
  • When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
  • Use technology (laptops and tablets) comfortably.
  • Perform DOT Inspections.
