About The Position

Arrow, a leader in bulk commodity hauling, reload operations, freight management, logistics, consulting, and technology with operations throughout Canada and the U.S., has been in business since 1919. The company is seeking a certified Truck and Transport Mechanic to join their team in Edmonton, Alberta. This role involves performing skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of tractors, trailers, and mobile equipment within a well-maintained shop environment.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Journeyman's Certification or Red Seal endorsement
  • Proven mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience in hydraulics and electrical systems, including schematics interpretation and diagnostics
  • Experience performing routine maintenance and repair operations
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates strong initiative and the ability to work independently as a self-starter
  • Able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic with a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly flexible with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a diverse environment
  • Ability to interact with others in a sensitive, tactful, diplomatic, and professional manner at all times
  • Computer literate
  • English language proficiency required (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with a current driver’s abstract

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
  • Provide routine maintenance on tractors, trailers and mobile equipment such as forklifts and loaders
  • Check all equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Diagnose defects in all equipment
  • Diagnose any faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair that is required
  • Perform incidental welding repairs on equipment
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
  • Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in the shop and road calls when required
  • Operate automotive servicing equipment, e.g. A/C recycler, etc.
  • Ability to operate the equipment that is serviced i.e. bring trucks, trailers and mobile equipment in and out of the shop. May require a Class 1 driving license
  • Installation of new and added-on equipment
  • Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting diagnostics and repair
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently prioritize daily work
  • Repair cooling, and lubrication systems
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical transmissions, drive-trains and final drives
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Instruct apprentices
  • Accurate completion of work orders and time cards
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques
  • Complying with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics
  • Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations, participate in identifying hazards
  • Ability to understand cross training on all functions at facility
  • Other mechanical repair work as required
