About The Position

This full-time position involves performing thorough and accurate preventative maintenance inspections, diagnosing and repairing emission-related problems, and completing all required maintenance operations. The role also includes performing complex repairs on engines, electrical systems, fuel systems, brakes, and exhaust systems, as well as providing emergency roadside services. The mechanic will be responsible for inspecting equipment, diagnosing mechanical defects, and accurately documenting repairs and parts on work orders. Maintaining a neat and orderly workplace and tools is also a key responsibility. The position may require on-call service, extended hours, or weekend flexibility due to emergency conditions. Occasional driving of vans and buses for road tests and assisting with bus cleanliness are also part of the duties. The role may also involve attending field trips and special events to ensure passenger safety.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience (A level) as a diesel mechanic or mechanic.
  • Accreditation from a school or certification program.
  • Complete all training requirements.
  • Pre-employment background checks apply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough, accurate preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Diagnose and repair emission-related problems.
  • Complete all required maintenance operations including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotation following schedules.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance as needed with direction from the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Perform complex operations including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests, interpreting and working from drawings, specifications, and other technical materials.
  • Perform emergency roadside services as needed.
  • Inspect equipment and diagnose mechanical defects.
  • Document repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately.
  • Maintain tools and workplaces so that conditions are neat and orderly.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Be flexible for on-call service calls, extended hours, or weekend work during emergency conditions.
  • Occasionally drive vans, buses, and vehicles to perform road tests etc.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness of assigned bus.
  • Occasionally attend field trips and special events to ensure passenger safety.
