About The Position

This temporary position supports the plant’s biennial refueling outage at Columbia Generating Station. The selected applicant must work onsite in Richland, Washington. The role is responsible for installing and maintaining mechanical equipment and associated tooling for a large nuclear generating plant.

Requirements

Journeyman classification requires applicable experience through one of the following: successful completion of a four-year apprenticeship; two-year trade school or equivalent military training plus three years of applicable experience; an associate’s degree in a mechanical field from an accredited college or university plus three years of applicable experience; or, for outage work only, a high school diploma or GED plus at least five years of applicable experience.
Applicable experience must involve maintenance of equipment such as pumps, valves, engines, or HVAC units normally associated with power-generating facilities.
Must be able to provide documentation of apprenticeship, trade school, experience, and training.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and throughout employment; employment visa sponsorship is not provided.

Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, repair, and test rotating equipment such as pumps, fans, and gearboxes.
Install, troubleshoot, disassemble, inspect, repair, and test valves, piping, valve operators, tanks, and related equipment.
Perform rigging duties and operate cranes.
Perform specialized maintenance tasks, including welding, machining, HVAC maintenance, reactor vessel maintenance, specialized valve and valve operator maintenance, specialized rotating equipment maintenance, diesel engine maintenance, and fire protection maintenance.
Decontaminate, clean, and overhaul contaminated tools and equipment.
Perform other tasks as required.
