About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members. This job classification description is intended to be generic in nature and not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities and requirements. The essential duties and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) designation may vary based on the specific tasks assigned as determined by the City of El Mirage. This is a stand-alone classification devoted to assisting with the coordination of major maintenance and preventative repairs for the City's fleet and equipment. This classification level has three competency ranks in the area of fleet.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED supplemented with college coursework or training in the field of mechanics and 3 years of related experience. Or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience
  • Arizona Class B CDL.
  • Arizona Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire

  • Providing quality customer service.
  • Operating general office equipment and assigned computer software.
  • Making basic business math calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates warranty work.
  • Monitors applicable Federal, State, and local requirements to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Processes paperwork and other documentation.
  • Creates and completes work orders.
  • Identifies parts and materials needed to complete tasks.
  • Processes invoices for payment.
  • Monitors quality and effectiveness of repairs.
  • Performs data entry.
  • Maintains records.
  • Fabricates and fulfills welding requests.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles as assigned.
  • Transports vehicles and/or equipment to vendors for repairs or arranges for pick up.
  • Reviews repair requests and determines repair needs and/or vendors.
