About The Position

Russell Landscape is looking for a mechanic to keep our trucks and equipment running. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing landscaping equipment, vehicles, and small engines to ensure field operations run efficiently. The mechanic will perform routine maintenance, diagnose mechanical issues, and complete repairs, ensuring all equipment is safe and operational.

Requirements

  • Two years of automobile repair and preventive maintenance experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer and mobile applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with small-engine landscape equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of heavy-duty/Isuzu repair experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory and/or business leadership experience preferred, particularly when working with internal customers/co-workers and external vendors.
  • Ability to maintain accurate administrative paperwork, repair and maintenance records, and inventory history logs.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations preferred.
  • Previous experience with parts and/or tires preferred.
  • Combination of relevant education and/or experience preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a safe, clean, and productive shop.
  • Maintain accurate shop equipment inventory and work logs.
  • Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance.
  • Manage a fleet of approximately 20 vehicles.
  • Manage approximately 250 pieces of equipment, including skid steers, trailers, commercial 48” mowers, and small handheld equipment.
  • Manage and oversee the work of another mechanic.
  • Prioritize workflow to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Control costs by identifying warranty opportunities, evaluating service quality, identifying repetitive repairs, and scheduling cost-effective preventive parts replacement.
  • Assist other shops as needed.
  • Proactively communicate with Branch Managers regarding service and equipment issues.
  • Review work performed on equipment and ensure accurate and timely completion of work logs.
  • Assist with branch inventory audits.
  • Collaborate with peers to support the organization’s overall objectives.
