About The Position

We’re currently seeking a skilled and dependable Mechanic, preferably with diesel experience, to join our team in Jacksonville, Florida. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, heavy trucks, and related equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in their work and is looking for a long-term role with a stable and growing company. Diesel Mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of the company’s Diesel Fleet trucks. The starting hourly rate for this position is $26.54/HR.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year's related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid Driver’s License
  • Mechanical experience working with diesel engines
  • Must comply with established safety rules, policies and procedures, including wearing required safety equipment
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Diesel experience preferred
  • Technical school a plus

Responsibilities

  • Inspect equipment for damage or failures.
  • Perform diagnostics and repair service for equipment component failures.
  • Remove and replace damaged or defective components, and operate support equipment including forklifts, man lifts, and service trucks.
  • Perform basic welds.
  • Clean the shop area.
  • Perform stocking functions.
  • Will be cross trained to work on cranes and heavy equipment.
  • All work performed must be done in a safe and efficient manner.
