About The Position
A.C. Moate Industries is seeking an experienced Mechanic with a strong background in heavy equipment, diesel engines, and fleet maintenance. The ideal candidate is a self-directed technician with a proven ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain construction equipment in a fast-paced environment. You must bring demonstrated experience working on heavy equipment, troubleshooting issues independently, and keeping equipment running without constant oversight. Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a mechanic working on heavy equipment or diesel trucks
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Ability to diagnose and repair issues without constant supervision
- Experience with construction or paving equipment preferred
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
- Own basic tools (preferred)

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair heavy equipment including pavers, rollers, sealcoat rigs, trucks, and support equipment
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative service on fleet and equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
- Complete repairs efficiently to minimize downtime
- Maintain accurate service logs and repair records
- Inspect equipment to ensure readiness for daily operations
- Coordinate with operations team on equipment needs and priorities
- Assist in maintaining an organized and functional yard
- Identify potential issues before they become failures
- Identify root causes of mechanical failures
- Perform field repairs when necessary
- Make judgment calls on repair vs. replacement
- Ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures
- Ensure equipment meets safety and operational standards
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
