MECHANIC
About The Position
Diagnoses and repairs a variety of diesel-powered commercial light and heavy equipment using manuals, attained specialized knowledge and other sources. This role involves performing maintenance and service work, assessing and diagnosing engines (small, diesel, heavy equipment, and tractor), understanding warranty processes, and documenting repair actions. The technician will use various tools, read service manuals and schematics, and communicate with service advisors/writers regarding repair processes and unit status. Responsibilities include performing safety and operational checks, repairing items out of tolerance, potentially pulling stock using a forklift or pallet jacks, requisitioning parts, and completing all required paperwork.
Requirements
- High School or equivalent.
- 3-5 years auto/truck, heavy equipment mechanical experience.
- Mechanical ability
- Diagnostics skills
- Diesel Mechanics
- Certification in Auto/ Diesel mechanics.
- ASE or other certification.
Nice To Haves
- Voc. Ed. Program or training preferred.
Responsibilities
- Diagnoses and repairs units requiring routine maintenance and special repair according to the work order or other approved repairs.
- Disassembles and assembles units under repair using a variety of hand and power tools according to accepted procedures.
- Communicates with service writer regarding status of units under repair according to the work order or other approved repairs.
- Performs Safety and Operational checks on repaired units.
- Repairs items out of tolerance.
- May pull own stock as required using forklift or pallet jacks.
- Requisitions parts required for repairs and communicates to service writer as needed.
- Completes all required paperwork and time recording.
- Other duties as assigned.
