About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic is responsible supporting our aggregate plants with the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heavy machinery and equipment. This includes, but not limited to Front-End Loaders, Haul Trucks, Excavators, Crushers, and Conveyors. You will perform routine inspections, diagnose mechanical issues, and ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely.

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent
  • 3+ years experience in heavy construction, quarry, road construction equipment industry or a related field
  • Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance
  • Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule
  • Strong communication skills and basic understanding of math
  • Working knowledge of US Aggregates Safety and Operating principles
  • Complete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping, and daily inventory
  • Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management, or customer
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assigned
  • Must possess and exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently to get things done
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

  • Euclid and Mack experience
  • welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experience
  • proficient with a computer, including the use of Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and diagnostic use, using manufacturer provided programs
  • Strong welding, torching, and maintenance skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment and light equipment as required
  • Performs repair or preventative maintenance on diesel and gasoline vehicles, including haul trucks, excavators, wheel loaders, and other vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations.
  • Typical repairs and maintenance would include work on engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines and body components, hydraulic, brake, electrical/electronic and suspension systems, wheels, tires, and undercarriages
  • Reads and interprets equipment condition reports and/or repair orders, communicate with supervisor and/or operator for clarification of defects and discuss preventative techniques with operators to minimize future repairs
  • Ensure the proper safety incident procedures and reporting processes are followed, bringing safety concerns to the attention of the Plant Manager
  • Communicate with management and staff on conditions of equipment, as well as any possible improvements or ideas
  • Perform needed hot work, including welding and cutting
  • Perform other duties as assigned
