About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is seeking a Mechanic/Vehicle Technician to join their team. This family-owned company, established in 1978, specializes in standard, next-day ground delivery and has expanded throughout the Midwest. The Mechanic/Vehicle Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing various vehicle systems including gasoline engines, powertrain components, hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension, electrical systems, and diesel emission systems. The role requires the ability to use diagnostic tools and technology, perform routine inspections and maintenance, and work independently or as part of a team. A clean work environment and the ability to obtain necessary tools are also key aspects of the position.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 2 years technical instruction in diesel or auto mechanics is preferred
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Must be able to spend a minimum of eight hours on feet
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, walk, and drive
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check

Nice To Haves

• Welding and torch experience is a plus
• Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle or be willing to learn

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair gasoline engines and other powertrain components
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic brakes, steering and suspension systems
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems
• Diagnose and repair diesel emission systems
• Use scan tool and laptop technology
• Follow reasonable instructions from shift leader
• Work independently and/or with team
• Perform routine truck inspections and maintenance of fleet equipment
• Maintain an effective and clean work environment
• Obtain own tools or ability to obtain own tools to complete all job functions
• Perform other related duties as assigned
