About The Position

Axis Builders, a division of AXIS Real Estate Investment Firm, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team as a full-time Maintenance Technician in Des Moines, IA. The applicant’s responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at renovating, repairing, and maintaining rental units to ensure they meet high-quality standards and provide a comfortable living environment for tenants. They will be a full-time onsite presence at our Des Moines properties. An ideal candidate is someone who is motivated, hustles, and solution-oriented. They take pride in and stand by their work. Requirements

  • Proven experience in renovation, repair, and maintenance work, preferably in a rental property or similar setting.
  • Proficiency in various trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and painting.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with tenants, property managers, and fellow team members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to industry regulations and best practices.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts to address urgent maintenance needs.
  • Physical stamina and agility to perform tasks that may involve lifting heavy objects, working at heights, and navigating confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned maintenance and repair tasks according to schedule while providing friendly and professional service
  • Includes but not limited to painting, flooring replacement, fixture installation, minor carpentry, HVAC maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, replace appliances
  • Document work performed and update work orders accordingly in AppFolio
  • Timely submission of receipts
  • Properly record hours on work orders
  • Communicate issues, parts required, and follow-ups to Coordinators and Office
  • Conduct routine inspections and suggest preventative maintenance and equipment improvements
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner to prevent accidents and injuries
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, including after hours emergencies, to address critical issues and minimize disruptions for residents
