About The Position

Axis Builders, a division of AXIS Real Estate Investment Firm, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team as a full-time Maintenance Technician in Des Moines, IA. The applicant’s responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at renovating, repairing, and maintaining rental units to ensure they meet high-quality standards and provide a comfortable living environment for tenants. They will be a full-time onsite presence at our Des Moines properties. An ideal candidate is someone who is motivated, hustles, and solution-oriented. They take pride in and stand by their work. Requirements

Proven experience in renovation, repair, and maintenance work, preferably in a rental property or similar setting.
Proficiency in various trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and painting.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with tenants, property managers, and fellow team members.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to industry regulations and best practices.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts to address urgent maintenance needs.
Physical stamina and agility to perform tasks that may involve lifting heavy objects, working at heights, and navigating confined spaces.

Responsibilities

Complete assigned maintenance and repair tasks according to schedule while providing friendly and professional service
Includes but not limited to painting, flooring replacement, fixture installation, minor carpentry, HVAC maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, replace appliances
Document work performed and update work orders accordingly in AppFolio
Timely submission of receipts
Properly record hours on work orders
Communicate issues, parts required, and follow-ups to Coordinators and Office
Conduct routine inspections and suggest preventative maintenance and equipment improvements
Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner to prevent accidents and injuries
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests, including after hours emergencies, to address critical issues and minimize disruptions for residents
