About The Position

Battlefield Equipment Rentals (a division of Toromont Industries Ltd.), one of Canada’s premiere Construction Rental Companies, has an immediate requirement for a full-time, Class 3 Union Mechanic at our Winnipeg location. Our busy, team-oriented shops place a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. The service department is an important area of our business, ensuring that our equipment is ready and available, as well as maintaining a flow of information on that equipment for both the rental staff and the sales staff.

Requirements

  • Existing knowledge of construction equipment and building products;
  • Hands on experience in the repair and service/maintenance requirements for various types of construction equipment;
  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with company and factory standards;
  • Ability to work independently, and in a team atmosphere;
  • Good communication and people skills;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills;
  • Operate and maintain all shop equipment and ensure a safe, clean & organized shop area.
  • Applicant must be able to perform heavy lifting; as heavy lifting will be required frequently;
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License;
  • Your own tools are required.

Nice To Haves

  • The ideal candidate will have previous experience with CAT Equipment;

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair a variety of industrial tooling and equipment including hand tools, power tools, small engine powered equipment, work tool, non CH’D heaters, electrical equipment, larger diesel engines, earth moving equipment, forklifts, scissor lifts, material lifts, CH’D heaters, large compaction equipment, swing stage motors, large engine overhauls, hydraulic overhauls, boom lifts, telescopic forklifts and any other type of equipment as required;
  • Certification and Calibration of above tooling;
  • General assessment of tools returned from rental;
  • MSA trained for repair and calibration of Gas monitors;
  • RAD trained for repair and calibration of the Cordless RAD line up;
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and follows manufacturers recommendations;
  • Thorough understanding of electric tool repair, air tool repair, cordless tool repair in the handheld categories;
  • Participate in safe workplace safety, environmentally sound behaviors and practices at all times in support of Battlefield’s health and safety policy programs and initiatives;
  • Ensure parts are ordered in a timely manner;
  • Maintain logs and document repairs accordingly;
  • Provide excellent customer relations in a fast-paced environment;
  • All other duties as assigned by the Branch & Service Managers.
