Requirements

  • Four years of journey level mechanical experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possession of a valid Class A or B Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Possession of an active Pennsylvania Class 4 or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification.
  • One year of experience or training in the repair or maintenance of diesel engines.
  • Possession of a valid Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) by the first day of employment.
  • Possession of a valid Hazardous Materials Endorsement (H) within the probationary period.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inspection, repair, and maintenance work on vehicles and tools powered by gasoline or diesel engines
  • Assign tasks to mechanics and ensure accuracy of work orders, parts usage, and time reporting
  • Guide mechanics in identifying complex equipment issues and selecting appropriate repair methods
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and promote proper safety procedures
  • Evaluate performance, approve leave, coach employees, and resolve daily work problems
  • Supervise shop staff and manage inventory, parts purchases, and specialized equipment needs
