About The Position

Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment and/or auxiliary equipment. Perform heavy mechanical maintenance and replacement of reciprocating and turbine engines and compressors, including prime movers and auxiliary units. This position reports to a Crew Leader to ensure consistency in maintenance practices and detailed computer documentation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in mechanical maintenance of reciprocating/centrifical compressor units.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver license, and maintain a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of compressor engines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in heavy maintenance related to engine/compressor units.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain natural gas plant equipment, pumps, exchangers, compressors, and related auxiliary equipment.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and light industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret various company policies and procedures, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manual and blueprints.
  • Ability to respond in a timely manner to any emergency or after-hours calls.
  • Good communication skills - must be able to interface effectively with many internal and external customers, regulatory officials, company contacts and co-workers.
  • Must have detailed knowledge of mechanical equipment, internal combustion engines, gas turbines, pumps, compressors, and related equipment.
  • Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, operating systems, company software if applicable), trainable to custom software applications.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).

  • Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to required work schedules.
  • Responsible for administrative tasks including ordering and receiving required replacement parts, completing personal timesheets and expense accounts, and maintaining a company vehicle.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of physical force.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to twist head and back for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in areas classified as confined space.
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders, catwalks, staging, and platforms.
  • Ability to ascend and descend slopes and ditches.
  • Ability to work with hands above head.
  • Ability to work lying on back.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather and/or extreme temperature conditions.
  • Must be available for callouts 24/7, except during company sponsored paid time off.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a DOT drug screen and a complete background check after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the condition of engine and compressor components as well as performing the required maintenance based on company standards and original manufacturer's specifications.
  • Mentor team mates and other company personnel on proper operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Identify, report, and assist in correcting safety and environmental concerns.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork timely and accurately.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
  • Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
  • Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance, and high level of performance.

  • Overtime may be required and is anticipated.
  • Required to carry a company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
