About The Position

This hourly, non-exempt position will work under indirect supervision from the Shop Superintendent or Shop Leader. The role involves inspecting, diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment and transportation vehicles, including cars, light, medium, and heavy trucks, and paving and earthmoving equipment. The position requires proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding all system failures on mobile equipment, as well as generating reports for parts and time, and accurately completing repair work orders. Communication with leaders and equipment operators regarding equipment and job-related projects is essential. The role also involves operating equipment for diagnostic and testing purposes, using welding and flame-cutting equipment, and maintaining a safe and organized work area. Continuous professional growth is expected, along with proper care and maintenance of company equipment. This position frequently requires working more than 40 hours per week, including non-traditional hours such as 2nd shift, Saturdays, and Sundays, with occasional out-of-town travel. Additional assignments may be given by the supervisor.

Requirements

Valid driver's license for which you reside with acceptable driving record per company minimum standards for drivers.
Valid Class B CDL with acceptable driving record required.
Class B state inspection license.
Must possess complete set of tools.
Must be proficient in troubleshooting techniques.
Must be proficient in hydraulic principles and systems.
Must be proficient in fundamentals of engines.
Must be proficient in power and drive train principles.
Must be proficient in machine electronics.
Must be proficient in cutting and welding processes.
Must be proficient in fuel systems.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Ability to obtain and maintain a current Medical Examiner's Certificate as stated in 49 CFR 391.43(h)
Ability to work with fuel and other petroleum products.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb on and off equipment safely.
Ability to work in shop or field environment with exposure to dust, welding fumes, exhaust fumes, noise, confined spaces and inclement weather conditions.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
Ability to bend, kneel, or squat to reach repair areas.
Basic computer skills.
Construction operations knowledge.
Ability to operate tools and equipment used to repair equipment.
Ability to take and follow instructions.
Ability to learn and follow GOH Company policies.
Ability to work under indirect supervision.

Nice To Haves

Prefer Class A CDL with HazMat and Tanker endorsements.
Prefer Class A state inspection license.
Prefer completion of Heavy Equipment/Diesel Technology program from an accredited vocational or technical school.

Responsibilities
