About The Position

The essential functions of the position are to perform repair and replacement of parts and equipment and machinery in an industrial pulp mill. Responsible for supervising Apprentice Millwright. Performs welding, utilizing cutting torch, plasma arc, grinders, and a wide variety of handheld tools and power equipment. Reads blueprints, schematics, lay-outs, and diagrams. Consults technical manuals and booklets and utilizes computer for accessing parts. Performs sheet metal related work; bench work for repair, replacing and dismantling and assembly work. Uses calipers, dial indicators, machinist squares, Opti-line-computerized laser alignment tool. Consults with technicians in the field on technical procedures and data, safety, and quality control. Performs a wide range of troubleshooting. Operates pick-up to transport parts and equipment and self. Also, may leave work site to work on pumps at river pump house. Works at a variety of heights from floor to overhead and on ladders. Utilizes man-lifts and elevators and climbs stairs. Also, may perform work in basket lifts. Utilizes lifting and carrying devices as much as possible. Utilizes lift truck and overhead cranes to assist in moving, lifting and carrying whenever possible. Also uses come-a-longs to assist in pulling. All essential.

Requirements

  • 8,000 hours of industrial mill-wrighting
  • Journey level millwright certification
  • Attended a 4-year apprenticeship
  • Relevant coursework at college level
