About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Mechanic / Material Handler at the Cato Warehouse. The role involves assessing, reporting, and performing mechanical repair services on heavy-duty equipment, balers, and other PMM equipment. Additionally, the position requires operating machinery to move third-party material, process materials into bales, sort, and reload material according to customer orders.

Requirements

  • Must hold a certificate or diploma in a related field
  • 5 years of experience in heavy duty equipment repair
  • Experience with electrical and hydraulics maintenance required
  • Experience with technology maintenance equipment
  • Strong critical thinking and creative skills
  • Detail oriented and organizational
  • Thorough working knowledge of facility equipment units, their usage, and safety procedures
  • Ability to manage time and responsibilities independently
  • Must have a flexible schedule
  • Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and agree to companies drug free workplace policies
  • Regular Attendance & Punctuality

Responsibilities

  • Repair malfunctioning equipment & electrical maintenance
  • Operate Front end loader, Forklift, Telehandler, Balers
  • Install machinery systems
  • Create inspection and repair schedules to ensure everything is in working order
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment
  • Advise PMM Onsite Supervisor during new equipment purchases (parts)
  • Understand and maintain accurate Inventory and Distribution of required Products, including cycle counts, physical inventories, barcoding, etc.
  • Provide 24/7 accessibility in the event of critical breakdown
  • Act as on-call maintenance and handyman when needed
  • Control and operate equipment, forklift, skid steers, banding equipment, overhead cranes, balers, and front-end loaders, etc
  • Manage material per Supervisors requests to include but not limited to baling, bricking, moving, transloading, sweeping, etc
  • Operate scales and document material appropriately
  • Monitor Operation: watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure machinery is working properly
  • Perform work as a team member
  • Follow all safety protocols to include but not limited to required PPE to training as required and assigned
  • Keep work area clean and free of debris
