About The Position

This role is for a Mechanic, Maintenance who is a patient, yet persistent go-getter that can maintain composure under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to interpret financial/performance reports are essential, along with being deadline-oriented and able to maintain composure under pressure.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' maintenance experience within the food industry, preferably dairy.
• Must possess an Ontario and/or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) – 433A license required.
• Knowledge of GMPs and HACCP.
• Strong preventative maintenance and troubleshooting ability.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project-management skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical/pneumatic/electrical pumps and valves.

Nice To Haves

• Computer skills would be an asset.
• Experience working with a CMMS would be an asset.
• Familiar with continuous improvement processes and methodologies would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Repair and maintain equipment (processors, homogenizers, pasteurizers, packaging, etc).
• Lead local management of parts for projects and coordinate contractors’ activities as required.
• Check shipments when they arrive and contact suppliers for any issues or inquiries.
• Repair plant equipment efficiently to minimize downtime of operations (internal and external).
• Ensure preventive maintenance of equipment.
• Participate in the implementation of continuous improvement programs.
