About The Position

The Maintenance Technician at Savage’s Corpus Christi Facility will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of equipment used at the facility. Requirements

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mobile heavy equipment, pickups and conveyors.
  • Minor electrical repairs and troubleshooting required
  • An expert in identifying and diagnosing needed repairs by computer based systems, being able to visually recognize problems a big plus
  • Has an invested interest in operational safety
  • Be able to read, write and understand English and follow written and/or verbal instructions
  • Welding experience a plus
  • Willingness to do a significant amount of preventative maintenance
  • Prepared to help with anything requiring attention, as directed by the Operations Manager
  • Environmental awareness
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Knowledge and experience using a CMMS is helpful
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective interfacing with internal leadership, direct reports, external vendors and other team members
  • TWIC Required
  • Self-starter capable of working independently, in line with company goals, strategies and policies
  • Ability to be on call at designated times, work weekends and night shift when required.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completion
  • A strong record of continuous improvement, personal development and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a mobile equipment mechanic/diesel mechanic, conveyors and pickups, required
  • Certifications preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor/major repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on mobile heavy equipment, conveyors and pickups, at our Corpus Christi facility.
  • Assists with other facility mechanical repairs as necessary
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and parts inventory
  • Learn and partner with the Operations Manager to utilize the CMMS system as a tool of organization and preventative maintenance record keeping
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Follow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating procedures
  • Assist with writing and revising maintenance procedures as needed
  • Support other areas of the operation, as deemed by the Operations Manager, even in areas outside typical heavy equipment/conveyor mechanic duties
