About The Position

As a team member, the Mechanic maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs high-volume food manufacturing equipment. They prioritize personnel and food safety at all times.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years work experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment (Food industry is highly preferred).
  • Relevant education or training in a related field (e.g. mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance).
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic understanding of AC/DC motors, motor control circuits, and photoeyes / sensors.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to understand blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work at heights from ladders or scissor lifts.
  • Ability to make decisions.
  • Must be able to work around very strong magnets.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of conveyance is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with CMMS work order systems.
  • Food manufacturing background with an understanding of FDA requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Welding, Machining, Plumbing, Pipefitting, Electricity.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all plant and facility support equipment, including but not limited to ammonia refrigeration system, HVAC systems, Steam system.
  • Perform all Electrical and Mechanical Troubleshooting.
  • Exceed all "B" Mechanical Qualification.
  • Attend IPM 10-Minute Meetings as assigned.
  • Write Work Orders on Issues discussed in IPM 10 Minute Meetings.
  • Follow and adhere to Lock – Out / Tag – Out procedures at all times.
  • Respond to radio calls in a timely manner.
  • Assist with keeping the plant running as smooth as possible while working on maintenance projects and performing PM task.
  • Setup, disassemble, relocation and assemble of Bakery and Packaging equipment.
  • Recognize waste and recommend initiatives for elimination or reduction.
  • Clean all maintenance work areas at the end of the shift.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance on equipment scheduled through PMC.
  • Write special or new Part Requests.
  • Repair of equipment scheduled through PMC.
  • Search for parts in the PMC system.
  • Write and make status changes to Work Orders in PMC.
  • Issue parts out of inventory, ensuring they are issued to the correct equipment.
  • Ensure safe work practices.
  • Write work orders as needed.
  • Maintain proper documentation of plant equipment.
  • Adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards as well as HACCP compliance and other food safety and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Follow attendance policy and observe department call-in procedures.
  • Exhibit timely arrival and departure and dependable time habits including meal and other breaks.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and get along well with coworkers.
  • Exhibit teamwork and willingness to help others.
  • Follow dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Complete assigned tasks reliably.
  • Comply with established Departmental and Organizational policies and procedures.
  • Work within a team environment to meet/exceed established production standards.
