About The Position

RBCI is seeking a Mechanic, Lead Technician to provide the Navy Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC) with the safe and efficient operation of heavy vehicles and material handling equipment in support of warehouse and logistics operations. This work is onsite at the Williamsburg, VA office. 5%-10% travel may be required. This position is contingent upon contract award. (Military Veterans are highly encouraged to apply)

Requirements

  • Shall have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Shall have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a mechanical or equipment technician performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
  • Shall have demonstrated lead technician or supervisory experience, including directing work activities, mentoring technicians, and managing maintenance workflows.
  • Shall possess extensive hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing equipment such as CESE, CEEI, NTVE, MHE, generators, containers, shelters, expeditionary tool kits, and other mechanical support systems.
  • Shall have demonstrated ability to diagnose complex mechanical and systems‑level issues and implement effective corrective maintenance actions.
  • Shall have experience using technical manuals, schematics, inspection checklists, maintenance logs, and government maintenance systems such as DMLSS and HIMS, or the ability to learn and use them effectively.
  • Shall possess knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, inspection requirements, equipment preservation practices, and readiness reporting.
  • Shall be capable of safely operating NTVE and MHE, including forklifts, and overseeing compliance with dispatch and safety procedures.
  • Shall possess strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or lead a maintenance team in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Shall maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with DoD, Navy, and NMRLC requirements.
  • Shall possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and hands‑on support for the inspection, maintenance, repair, calibration, and sustainment of Civil Engineering Equipment (CEE), including Civil Engineering Support Equipment (CESE), Civil Engineer End Items (CEEI), containers, shelters, expeditionary tool kits, non‑tactical vehicles (NTVE), and material handling equipment (MHE).
  • Lead and perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and operational testing on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electromechanical systems to ensure equipment remains in a Ready‑For‑Issue (RFI) condition in support of EXMEDS programs.
  • Diagnose complex equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions using technical manuals, schematics, manufacturer guidance, and Navy/DoD maintenance standards.
  • Oversee and coordinate maintenance activities, work priorities, and schedules for assigned mechanics and technicians; provide technical direction, mentoring, and on‑the‑job training to junior personnel.
  • Ensure all maintenance, inspections, and Limited Technical Inspections (LTI) are properly documented using Equipment Repair Orders (EROs), maintenance history jackets, and required government maintenance databases such as DMLSS and HIMS.
  • Conduct operational inspections, cycling, startup, lay‑up, preservation, and load testing of CESE and other assigned equipment in accordance with NMRLC checklists, OEM guidance, and applicable directives.
  • Support preparation of equipment, containers, and shelters for deployment, retrograde, shipment, storage, certification, or transfer to DLA Disposition Services, including safe removal of POL and HAZMAT as required.
  • Operate and oversee the safe operation of NTVE and MHE, including forklifts and mobile equipment, ensuring compliance with dispatch, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain accountability for tools, test equipment, collateral gear, and bench stock; coordinate material and repair parts procurement through the Contractor Material Request (CMR) process as required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, fire protection, and occupational health requirements, and immediately report equipment damage, hazards, or mishaps in accordance with NMRLC procedures.
  • Coordinate with Government personnel, CEE Managers, and other functional leads to support readiness goals, maintenance planning, inspections, and weekly work reviews.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management in support of mission and operational requirements.
