About The Position

Mechanic IV Senior-level skill. Complex equipment. The shop's go-to. Bring your talent, with room to grow. Highly complex natural gas compression equipment requires experienced talent. In Cooper's Odessa service shop, the mechanics who take on the toughest teardowns, the trickiest reassemblies, and the final test run before equipment ships are the ones with years behind them — and we're looking for one more. As a Mechanic IV, you'll bring deep hands-on experience to moderate and highly complex equipment, working with less oversight and more responsibility than earlier-career roles. If you've spent 8+ years mastering mechanical test, assembly, and heavy equipment repair, this is where that experience pays off.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical test and assembly/disassembly, or heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Skilled at interpreting drawings, prints, and engineering specifications.
  • Physically able to push, pull, bend, and stay active through a full shift.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Solid basic math skills and the ability to read schematics.
  • Well-versed in safety regulations and good housekeeping practices.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as production requires.
  • A team player who can also run independently against engineering specs, with strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • 8 years of experience in operations or service center applications.
  • Strong knowledge of natural gas engine and compressor equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, position, reassemble, test, and paint moderate to highly complex natural gas engine and compressor equipment.
  • Use a wide range of mechanical tools and equipment for disassembly, assembly, and testing tasks.
  • Set up and run test operations against engineering specifications, and troubleshoot issues that come up.
  • Conduct risk assessments before operations and material movements.
  • Perform minor maintenance and keep facility equipment and tooling operational, efficient, and safe.
  • Identify and report problems or hazardous conditions during equipment operations.
  • Complete required documentation and business training accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized work environment and follow all EHS policies.

Benefits

  • Benefits start day one — no waiting period on most plans.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Company-paid life, AD&D, short-term, and long-term disability.
  • Voluntary life, AD&D, and long-term disability buy-up plans.
  • Voluntary accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity plans.
  • 401(k) with up to 5% company match — 100% vested on day one.
