About The Position

Lake of the Pines Association is accepting applications for the position of Mechanic III. Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Fleet Mechanic III shall maintain all of the Lake of the Pines Association vehicles and motor equipment. The Mechanic will diagnose, organize and make repairs as needed to keep vehicles and equipment in working order. The schedule will be Monday through Friday. Lake of the Pines is a 2,000-home gated private community located in the foothills of Northern California between the towns of Auburn and Grass Valley. Among its numerous amenities, the community boasts of a 230-acre private lake and a 19-hole golf course as two of its prime amenities. This is a Full-Time position with a salary range of $31.03 – $38.69 per hour.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid California Driver’s License in good standing and maintained as such as a condition of continued employment.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in the mechanical trade.
  • Knowledge of standard practices of vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Required to complete work with deadlines, deal with frequent interruptions/distractions, to be able to resolve problems and be able to concentrate and to recall details.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification preferred.
  • Trade School Certification desired.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of golf, public works, and public safety vehicles and equipment and conduct repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain the Public Works heavy equipment (Bobcat, backhoe, tractors, dump truck, flatbed, and workmen) in good working order.
  • Maintain and repair all golf mowing equipment as well as electric golf carts.
  • Grind reels, trains employees in equipment maintenance.
  • Perform shop functions, such as welding, brazing, cutting, fabricating and drilling.
  • Supervise assisting mechanical staff.
  • Work with and communicate with vendors and order parts.
  • Keep records, vehicle logs and equipment manuals.
  • Reports as necessary to Operations Manager concerning irregular repairs and financial authorization.
  • Keep the shop compliant with State of California Regulations, hazardous waste removals, etc.
  • Manage the California Air Resources Board requirements for all off-road diesel vehicles and update the DOORS database as required.
  • Maintain the shop, tools and supplies within the shop.
  • Perform heavy manual labor, clean up and other duties as required.
  • Self-motivated – able to take on tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to operational excellence by ensuring staff have access to safe, reliable equipment and vehicles needed to perform their duties successfully.
