Requirements

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of relevant shipboard machinist mechanic experience or equivalent military experience.
  • Valid driver's license and qualification to operate government/company vehicles per the Corporate Fleet Vehicle Safety Manual.
  • This position requires an extensive background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Four (4) years of experience serving in a Navy Engineering rating or Armed Forces Diesel Engine Repair Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

Responsibilities

  • Installing, aligning, operating, and repairing diesel and gasoline engines, fire pumps, air-driven reciprocating and centrifugal pumps, and other shipboard mechanical equipment.
  • Overhauling, servicing, repairing, adjusting, and maintaining mechanical components.
  • Operating machines and hand tools necessary for efficient and precise repairs.
  • Diagnosing and locating mechanical defects or breakdowns using knowledge of machine principles.
  • Using hand tools and measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, manufacturer specifications, and disassembling/reassembling tools and equipment.
  • Instructing and mentoring Machinist/Mechanic Helpers when assigned.
  • Assisting in the mooring, receipt, and departure of vessels.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety procedures, environmental protection regulations, and company policies.
  • Handling weights up to 100 pounds and working in physically demanding conditions, including confined spaces and high or low elevations.
  • Climbing ladders, maneuvering in strained positions, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Being available to work overtime as needed and traveling up to 25% to conduct company business.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned to support safe site operations and contract execution.
