Performs skilled maintenance and/or operational activities in assigned area; provides technical knowledge regarding assigned functions and ensures that proper procedures are followed, and service quality levels are maintained. This position involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing school bus units, fleet vehicles, and other public works equipment. The role requires utilizing diagnostic equipment to determine repair needs, maintaining and/or repairing shop areas and fuel stations, and monitoring, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and/or maintaining vehicles, equipment, tools, facilities, and workspaces. Additionally, the position involves reviewing and monitoring supply and material needs, initiating supply requests, and loading and delivering materials as required. Preparing and/or reviewing various documents and work orders, completing activity logs or reports, and maintaining records of vehicle maintenance are also key responsibilities. The role contributes to the overall success of Vehicle Maintenance by performing other essential duties as assigned and fostering a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds. This position is subject to 24-hour recall and may require overtime, including during emergency situations. The incumbent may be required to remain at work to provide needed services or perform essential duties for the benefit of the general public during emergencies or evacuations, potentially including duties different from the normal scope of the position.
