About The Position

Weisinger Incorporated is seeking a Mechanic 2 to join our Maintenance Department at our Willis, Texas location. We’re looking for a dedicated Mechanic who thrives on solving challenges, values precision, and understands that every repair keeps our customers moving forward. Mechanic Level 2 performs more advanced diagnostics and repairs with moderate supervision. Expected to complete complex mechanical tasks and mentor lower-level mechanics. This position requires consistent physical labor, attention to detail, and safety consciousness. All employees of Weisinger Incorporated must agree to perform work out of town or at night, on the weekends and on holidays with short notice and for an extended period as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of professional mechanical experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Ability to speak, write, read and understand English required for basic job function.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical or safety procedures, manuals and standards.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals in English and metric units.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of basic analytical equipment including: volt/ohmmeter pressure gauges tachometers micrometer specific gravity meter other engine and machinery calibrating equipment
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to understand mechanical systems and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Balance and stability are required.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, assisted.
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish color and ability to adjust focus required.
  • This position requires full use of arms and back and is comprised of repetitive motions.
  • Stamina is required as employees may routinely work physically demanding shifts of up to or more than 12 hours per shift, 7 days a week.
  • If employee maintains CDL compliance with 37 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 4 (which includes but is not limited to satisfactory Texas Department of Transportation physical exam and random drug testing) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
  • Completion of relevant certifications (ASE or equivalent preferred).
  • Ability to operate a tractor, backhoe or forklift preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities in accordance with all policies, principles, and procedures established by Department, Division and Weisinger Inc. Management and Board of Directors.
  • Perform diagnostics on engines, transmissions, suspension, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct repairs with limited supervision.
  • Assist in diagnosing performance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Train and guide Entry-Level and Level 1 Mechanics.
  • Ensure work meets safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of current developments in the field of preventive maintenance, lubrication, and repair of the rotating and stationary equipment in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Leave vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable condition.
  • Immediately report all maintenance issues to supervisor, which includes repairing/replacing broken tools.
  • Discontinue use of broken items and dispose of broken tools that cannot be repaired.
  • Operate vehicles and comply with all Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
  • If employee maintains a commercial driver’s license, complete driver vehicle inspection reports before and after operating commercially regulated vehicles. Submit inspection reports after each shift. It is the employee’s responsibility to review weight limits and monitor hours of service for compliance.
  • When moving equipment, observe job site and assist as needed to prevent damage and destruction of equipment or property.
  • Use handling tools such as tongs and wrenches.
  • Store and care for all tools, spare parts, equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Perform basic housekeeping including but not limited to disposing of garbage and organizing job site, crew truck and employee lockers before, during and after shift.
  • Mix drilling fluid, cement and chemicals.
  • Follow all safety regulations, policies, principles, and procedures.
  • Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Immediately notify supervisor about injuries to self or crew members.
  • Must be available by phone and be readily available to report to work as needed at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include working in another department as needed
