About The Position

Temple University's Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry, founded in 1863, is the second-oldest dental school in the U.S., known for innovation in dental education, research, community service, and pioneering healthcare. With over 7,000 alumni globally, it provides diverse educational programs and comprehensive patient services, training dedicated and ethical professionals. The school offers smart classrooms, digital dentistry labs, clinics, and a preclinical lab, supporting postbaccalaureate, predoctoral, continuing education, and advanced education programs. The Mechanic II: Dental will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various dental equipment, including hand pieces, sterilizers, dental chairs, lab equipment, and x-ray equipment, for the Kornberg School of Dentistry, as well as managing supplies and inventory.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of related experience in a dental or similar environment.
  • Ability to travel between dental school clinics as needed.
  • Ability to perform plumbing duties as well as carpentry and electrical repairs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of dental units.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations of students, faculty, staff, and other external contacts.
  • Great attention to detail and sound judgments with the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain various dental equipment for the Kornberg School of Dentistry.
  • Repair hand pieces, the hand piece delivery system, sterilizers, dental chairs and associated plumbing, lab equipment, and x-ray equipment and processors.
  • Order necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Keep accurate inventory.
  • Install, repair, and maintain various clinical dental equipment such as dental chairs, sinks, hand pieces, sterilizers, x-ray units.
  • Install, repair, and maintain dental laboratory equipment, and practice units.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
