About The Position

The Mechanic II supports the reliable operation, safety, and performance of company-owned fleet vehicles, construction equipment, and shop assets. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs across a wide range of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty equipment supporting field operations. This position plays a key role in minimizing downtime, maintaining compliance, and ensuring equipment readiness across multiple job sites.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years' experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing fleet vehicles and/or construction equipment, or equivalent technical training.
  • Basic computer skills to complete work orders, inspections, and equipment records.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English as required for safety, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
  • Active DOT Medical Card preferred (assistance provided to obtain), successful drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review per federal/state requirements

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • CDL Class A License preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.
  • OSHA-10 Certification (company-supported if not current).

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and support all Company Safety Policies and the Company Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure that all equipment meets OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards, assist with inspections, audits, and compliance documentation and properly handle fuels, oils, and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain accurate equipment schedules, maintenance records, and documentation for all fleet and tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on fleet vehicles, construction equipment, and small tools.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Execute repairs in both shop and field environments with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure equipment readiness to support daily operations and emergency response needs.
  • Utilize fleet management systems or digital tools to track work orders, inspections, and repairs.
  • Support equipment inventory management, including usage tracking and lifecycle planning.
  • Coordinate movement of equipment between shop, yard, and job sites.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with field operations, foremen, and project teams.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and urgent field service needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.
