About The Position

Under the direction of an experienced Journeyman Mechanic, the Mechanic Helper assists with repairs and adjustments to multiple types of coffee equipment; such as: automotive Vehicles, agricultural equipment/implements And various equipment used in coffee farm operations. This role requires the ability to learn and apply new skills, work closely with team members, and adhere to safety regulations. The Mechanic Helper performs tasks associated with the trade as requested, requiring supervision and the ability to follow instructions. They are responsible for completing assigned tasks within allotted timeframes and applying learned information to their work. The position involves obtaining materials, cleaning and maintaining shop equipment, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Valid Type 3 driver’s license.
  • Some experience with Automotive and heavy equipment repair.
  • Physically and mentally capable of performing the assistance job functions.
  • Ability to understand and take direction in required instruction to complete jobs.
  • Awareness of OSHA’s requirements for a safe work place/area.
  • Regular attendance – Must report absence from work to Supervisor one hour prior to scheduled start time.
  • Absences related to Family Medical Leave Act must be reported to Human Resources.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of types of shop equipment/tools used.
  • May be required to learn or know some/most skills of the trade, open to learning about technology, or any new installed equipment for understanding job functions.
  • If trained or has training, may do minor welding and cutting when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with repairs and adjustments to automotive vehicles, agricultural equipment/implements, and various equipment used in coffee farm operations.
  • Learns and applies new skills related to technology and new equipment.
  • Understands and takes direction to complete assigned jobs.
  • Works closely with equipment shop mechanics and orchard/factory employees.
  • Operates equipment with training for assisting in loading, unloading, and moving equipment.
  • Obtains materials from the Parts room and equipment yard.
  • Cleans and maintains shop equipment and the shop area.
  • Complies with all House Rules, Company/Department Policies, Company/Union Agreements, and Federal, State, Local, and Company safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Performs minor welding and cutting when trained and necessary.
  • Does other related work as instructed by supervisor.
